Project description

Purpose
Building a network of social enterprises to stimulate the civic spirit and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Problem
The unemployment rate in the European Union among young people is 15.1%.
Spain is the leader in the European Union with the highest percentage of young unemployed people, with 34.8%. Romania is also in this top of the high unemployment among young people, having 22.8%.
These rates are way above the EU average and is something that needs to concern us about the future of youths into the labor market.
These data were taken from statista.com, the last update being October 2022, the target group for the analysis is 15-24 years old.

Objectives
1. Improving the entrepreneurial spirit for 100 youth between 16 and 26 years old from Spain and Romania
2. Improving the civic spirit for 100 youth between 16 and 26 years old from Spain and Romania
3. The involvement of at least 10 social enterprises in a network of learning and mentorship for the youth sector

The project aims to address the needs and goals of participating organizations and their target groups by addressing the identified misconceptions about social entrepreneurship among young people in Spain and Romania. The local analysis of 118 youths revealed that there is a lack of awareness and understanding of social entrepreneurship, with a significant number of participants confusing social enterprises with NGOs and not knowing the difference between a social enterprise and a regular business.
The project will address these needs and goals by providing participating organizations with basic and advanced digital skills training in social media and communication, enabling them to communicate more effectively with young people and disseminate information about social entrepreneurship. The project will also provide training on the legal form of social enterprises, clarifying any misconceptions about their structure and revenue streams.
By addressing these identified needs, the project aims to increase awareness and understanding of social entrepreneurship among young people in Spain and Romania. This will be achieved through the dissemination of information about social entrepreneurship, the provision of training and support to participating organizations, and the development of best practices and resources that can be used by other organizations and members of society.
Through the project’s activities and methodology, participating organizations will be able to better engage with young people, improve their communication systems, and increase the number of participants in social programs. This will contribute to the social and economic development of communities, promoting decent work and economic growth, and reducing inequalities, which are aligned with the European Union’ Sustainable Development Goals.
In conclusion, the project addresses the needs and goals of participating organizations and their target groups by addressing identified misconceptions about social entrepreneurship among young people in Spain and Romania, providing training and support, and developing best practices and resources that can be used by other organizations and members of society.
